Diamond Chemical Company is a national manufacturer of cleaning products, disinfectants and detergents, located in Northern NJ. The company is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic candidate for a SENIOR CHEMIST position.

The candidate must be a proactive, hands-on, team player. Position provides high level of autonomy. The responsibilities include formulation development, performing analytical testing of incoming raw materials/ in-process production QC and managing regulatory disinfectants documentation.

Position: Sr. Chemist

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm

Sr. Chemist’s Essential Job Functions:

• Perform daily testing using wet chemical and instrumental techniques.
• Formulating new products.
• Maintain and record analytical data.
• Prepare various laboratory reagents as required for daily operations.
• Provides instruction and basic training to lab technicians.
• Occasionally visit the plant to confirm processing results.
• Maintain regulatory database.
• Occasional filling in for second shift when others go on vacation.

Required Knowledge:

• Must be proficient in common PC functions, Word, Excel, etc.
• Must be well organized and detail oriented. Must have an eye for written detail.
• Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
• Must be knowledgeable in basic laboratory reagent preparation, labeling and handling.
• Wet Chemistry procedures.
• Proficient in common laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
• Competent in performing mathematical and scientific calculations.
• Industry knowledge: CPG detergents or Personal Care.
• Any regulatory experience is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS degree in Chemistry. MS preferred.
• Experience: 4 years minimum.
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
• High level math skills.
• Preferred: IR instrumentation, KF, Brookfield Viscometer, etc.

Physical Demands:

• While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand (for extended periods), stoop, bend, walk and use hands to handle objects, tools and controls, reach with hands and arms; the ability to speak and understand English. Employee will be required to handle chemicals and solvents as required during course of job execution. Employee may be required to move or lift objects up to 15 lbs.
